Two whole weeks! Well, actually 15 days to be exact. That is how long it has been since I have connected with you blogging peeps. I am not sure why, maybe it was the busy nature of the holidays or all the other little life and work happenings that I, as usual, over-committed myself to, but over the past few weeks I have sat down to start a post countless times and just couldn’t quite complete one. So here’s a shot, finally!
We indeed had a white Christmas, which was great. It has been a few years since that was the case. The days leading up to and during actual Christmas day felt like a marathon of eating and drinking wine, putting together last minute gifts, and catching up with my very funny and loud family. Although I have my camera with me almost always, I somehow only got pictures of us or the dogs… sorry, family!
There are always highlights to every holiday, however, this one below was definitely one of mine: my parents, together with Alex, worked to surprise me with this extremely thoughtful book! It contains my first 100 posts from The Peaks & The Valleys Instagram, along with the captions that correspond with the blog posts. I cannot believe they took so much time to think this out. Due to its size, Alex had to have a local print shop work their magic and ensure that the photo quality wasn’t lost like it can be with some of the online based services. It makes me so happy looking through The Peaks & The Valleys photos over the past 5 months and just inspires me to ramp up on some new material come 2018! This has been such a great experience for me, a lot of which is due to the support I have had from these people. My heart was definitely warm.
Closing down 2017 … The remainder of the year is sure to be jam-packed, and I am excited to roll over that energy to see what 2018 has to bring! At some point I am sure I will want to talk about how this year went as a whole, but for right now, all I can say is how grateful I am to be feeling like myself again. After finally getting some dosing changes down and getting my hormones evened out, my Crohn’s is behaving and I am feeling better than I have felt most of this year! It’ll take a few more months before I am able to get the energy back that I am used to before a flare, a lot of which is likely due to my lack of exercise and loss of muscle over the last year. So get ready to come along with me on that journey soon. 🙂
Until I get some more time … here are some photos from the last two weeks:
I took pictures of the many emotions of my dogs …
I took pictures of my dogs opening presents …
Me, Alex and more pictures of dogs … in the snow
You guessed it, more snowy dog pics!
I did some decorating …. (can’t say I am responsible for the cute cupcakes, though)
Lastly, I did some crafting!
Of course I made a number of new dishes during my time off, which I will share soon! I also want to take some time to talk about the best and worst of 2017, and forecast how I how to make 2018 a successful one, because there is A LOT planned already.
What are you guys planning for the new year? Any resolutions?
